Fresh produce moves faster than laboratory results. We are developing testing that runs on site, so the information is there while the shipment is still in your hands.
The platform
Three steps, start to answer.

Apply the sample
The sample goes onto the lateral flow strip. The handling is designed for the people already doing the inspections.

Read multiple targets
Up to ten biomarkers are quantified in a single run, rather than answering only one question per run.

Get a digital result
A reader or a phone turns the strip into a fully digital result within minutes, in a form that can easily be passed on and used in your workflow.
Where it is used
From the greenhouse to the port.
The same platform, at two points in the chain where waiting for a laboratory costs the most.
During production
An infection detected early is a crop that can still be saved.
At the point of entry
A call on an arriving shipment has to be made in hours, not days.

Focus areas
The detection format stays the same. What changes is the target.

Our first targets address fungal infections in imported fresh produce and viral infections in greenhouse crops. Both are in active development, with work being carried out together with our industry partners.

The same platform is being adapted to answer quality control questions that today are answered by visual inspection or by sending samples to a laboratory.

Animal health is a future focus area for the platform. No target has been announced at this stage.

Where we come from
Sixth Sense Diagnostics was founded in 2025 and grew out of at Wageningen University & Research, under license. The technology is in development, with programmes running alongside research and industry partners
